Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, primarily played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s goal, using any part of the body except the arms and hands (the goalkeeper is an exception, as they are allowed to use their hands within the penalty area). The game is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, and it is overseen by referees.

Football, known as soccer in some countries, is one of the most popular sports worldwide, with a vast following and numerous professional leagues and tournaments, including notable events like the FIFA World Cup. The sport emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and skill, showcasing aspects like dribbling, passing, shooting, and defending. Matches typically consist of two halves of 45 minutes each, plus added time for stoppages. The team with the most goals at the end of the match wins. Football’s rich history and cultural significance make it a central part of many societies, fostering community engagement and global interaction.
